O & O autobackup

O&O AutoBackup User’s Guide

  1. Click on Browse or Add to specify a file or a directory as the source of the copy. Alternatively, you can also specify a source or wildcard criterion.
  2. After you have added the data source successfully, you can now select the destination drive. As destination drives, O&O AutoBackup supports either USB Sticks or a disk with a Firewire port (IEEE 1394). If the external storage medium was connected to the computer before the start of O&O AutoBackup, then you can select it from the list of available destination drives. Otherwise, connect it now, click on “Refresh” and then choose it from the list.
  3. Now you can select which action O&O AutoBackup should run.

3.1 Copy all source data to a directory on the destination drive. The directory will be named after the date in “year-month-day” format.

3.2 Copy all new and changed source data, no deletion of data. -> All changed and new files/ directories are copied to the root directory of the destination drive. In contrast to 3.3., no data will be deleted from the target disk.

3.3 Perform synchronization, i.e. update all changes and deletions. -> All files and directories that match the source criteria are copied to the root directory on the USB stick. In contrast to 3.2, deleted source files/directories are also deleted from the USB stick. After completion the USB stick is now a “mirror image” of the source data and/or directories.

  1. Save your settings.
  2. If you want to run the copy on your stick or disk immediately, click on Run. Otherwise, the action selected will be executed whenever you connect your USB/disk device to your computer.

* Please do not forget to use the method „Safely remove hardware“ once the process has finished, as offered by the operating system.
